COLUMBUS, Ohio—Committed to providing quality products to original equipment manufacturers for more than 100 years, Buckeye Shapeform is pleased to announce it is expecting rising growth for the company in 2011 due to additional military component orders and improving economic conditions.
Buckeye recently made a $250,000 capital investment in specially-made machinery to expand its capacity to produce deep draw products, often used for military applications and credited for the company’s propensity for growth. Deep draw technology creates seamless complex cylindrical shells, tubes and other shapes. The cylindrical product components deliver superior product integrity and optimal performance results, perfect for military and medical applications. The investment is the first capital outlay for Buckeye Shapeform in three years and was made possible with a low interest loan obtained through the state of Ohio.
"The overall business climate is improving and Buckeye Shapeform continues to be chosen as a preferred vendor for companies that are manufacturing products used by military services," says Ken Tumblison, president of Buckeye Shapeform. "We recently received a $2 million contract with ATK to produce visible and infrared flare tubes for the U.S. Airforce, which adds to an international order we have with ATK. We also secured a contract with Nammo Talley to produce parts for a missile launcher and a back end missile piece this year and anticipate approval for production of parts for a light anti-armor weapon for this client."
Buckeye Shapeform also continues to produce deep draw technology for the Hellfire Missile, used by Lockheed Martin as well as Tow Missile skin for Klune Industries. Due to increased contracts for the company’s deep draw technology, the company also added five production employees in 2010 and anticipates company growth of 20 per cent in 2011.
"Each new contract we receive helps our reputation grow with companies that need deep draw technology, "adds Tumblison. "We were named as a top supplier for Lockheed Martin this year and certified to Aerospace AS9100 and ISO9001 quality management standards. We fully recognize the importance of continuing to provide flawless quality during deep draw production. All military suppliers need to work together to achieve the highest standards, always — those who serve in the armed forces are depending on us."
